Co-recipient of research grants on plant genetic and CRISPR based gene editing. Previously, Ferhatoglu has worked at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign on functional genomics of Arabidopsis P450s and at NRC-PBI, Saskatoon, she has worked on drought resistant GMO canola development, at Phenomenome Discoveries, she has overseen plant metabolomic projects, providing insight into gene mutations and biological processes. Ferhatoglu was also part of the team discovering chloroplastic gene targeting by the herbicide clomazone at U of Kentucky and function of mrg15, an MSL complex protein, an epigenetic modulator in gene regulation. In past, she served as senate member at U of Saskatchewan and advocate for water and climate friendly campaigns at Saskatchewan Environmental Society.
