Dr. Tarek H. El-Metwally is currently working as Professor at Department of Medical Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt. He obtained his Ph.D. in Medical Biochemistry from Creighton University Medical Center, NE, USA. Dr. Tarek H. El-Metwally received honors includes Fourth position Award (Midwest Student Research Forum, MSRF), Omaha, NE, USA, Travel Award (American Pancreatic Association, APA, Annual Meeting), Chicago, USA, Travel Award (The Joint conference of the International Association of Pancreatology and the Japan Pancreas Society), Sendai, Japan, and The Best Department Staff - teaching and cooperating with the students, Students Nomination, 2003/2004 and 2004/2005, Faculty of Medicine, Assiut University, Assiut, Egypt. He is also editor/author of 11 international books and review articles. He is also serving as reviewer and editor board member in number of journals. He is also working as CME Coordinator Aljouf College of Medicine, Aljouf University, Sakaka, Saudi Arabia, and Associate Editor-In-Chief: Aljouf Medical Journal is an online Open-Access and printed Multidisciplinary Peer-Reviewed International Journal that is published bimonthly by the Deanship for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, University of Aljouf, Sakaka, Saudi Arabia. He has examined at least 10 research projects for local and international funding. He is member of following scientific societies, Egyptian Society for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, American Pancreatic Association, Society of Inimitability of Quran and Sunnah, Whos Who in the World, NJ, USA, Egyptian Society of Clinical Chemistry, and Arabic Translation & Intercultural Dialogue Association. His current area of interest related to Retinoids Clinical Application in Medicine, Cancer Redifferentiation Therapy, in Vitro and in Vivo Stem Cell Biology in Diabetes, Thalassemia, Azoospermia, Autoimmune Diseases and Obesity, Characterization of Tissue Hypoxia Biomarkers as Alternative early Organ Function Tests. He is also working on 11 projects and received grants for his research work. He supervised more than 27 PhD, Msc, and Medical Doctorate. He has published 22 articles in international journals, and 11 articles in national journals, 26 presentations in conferences contributed as author/co-author.
