Biography

Dr. Ashraf M.T. Elewa is currently working as Professor, Interim Dean and Vice Dean of Faculty of Science for Education and Students Affairs, Minia University, Egypt. He obtained his Ph.D. in Channel System from same University in 1994. He is permanent member in the committee responsible for examinations of the undergraduate students of the Faculty of Science, and Director of the Impact Assessment Unit at Minia University. He is also serving the scientific community as editorial board member, reviewer and referee in number of journals. His area of research interest focuses on Paleoecology, Biostratigraphy, Paleobiogeography, and Evolution by means of Ostracoda and Foraminifera (Cretaceous to Miocene) with the aid of Multivariate Data Analyses (Correspondence Analysis, Principal Coordinate Analysis, Principal Component Analysis, Canonical Correlation Analysis, Canonical Variate Analysis, Cluster Analysis, Discriminant Analysis, Multiple Regression Analysis, MANOVA, etc.),Traditional and Geometric Morphometrics with the Aid of different Techniques such as Canonical Variate Analysis, Principal Warps and Thin Plate Splines, Eigenshape Analysis, Fourier Analysis, and others. He has published 8 books, 60 articles in journals, 13 abstracts in conferences contributed as author/co-author. He also attended number of workshops and conferences. He is member of International Research Group on Ostracoda, OSTRACON (Ostracoda Discussion List), PAST users list (a software package for doing Multivariate Data Analysis in Paleontology), MORPHMET (Morphometrics Discussion List), and member of Morphometrics Forum, Egyptian Geological Society, and Egyptian Paleontological Society. He supervised 2 Masters and 1 PhD and 21 undergraduate students, 2 Masters and 1 PhD currently in his supervision. He also worked as Demonstrator/Assistant Lecturer/Assistant Professor/and Associate Professor at Minia University.
