Biography

Dr. S. Jeyarani completed her undergraduate Studies at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore in 1990 and received her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Agricultural Entomology from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. She assumed a faculty position in the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in 1997. Now, she completed 13 years of service as an Agricultural Entomologist. At the University she has served as Assistant Professor from 1997 to 2006 and serving as Associate Professor from 2007 onwards.

Since 1997, her research has focused on biological control of insects using pathogens, predators and parasitoids. In her Ph.D. programme, she developed a UV tolerant strain of nucleopolyherovirus of Helicoverpa armigera and proved its efficacy under field condition. She has also isolated entomopathogenic fungi from mites and doing research on the biological control of phytophagous mites. Recently, she focuses on the mass production of predators of phytophagous mites for the production of good quality predators.

Also, she teaches several Agricultural Entomology courses for both under graduate and post graduate students. Acted as coordinator for the under graduate students for a period of 4 years. Guided two M.Sc. (Ag.) students as chairman of the advisory committee and two M.Sc. (Ag.) students as member of the advisory committee.
