Daniel Ter Goon is a Full Professor at the University of Fort Hare. Prof Goon has published over 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals. His academic, professional and awards credentials include Doctor of Technology (D Tech) in Clinical Technology (Sport and Exercise Technology), Master of Technology (M Tech) (Cum laude) in Sport and Exercise Technology, as well as Bachelor of Science (B.Sc Ed) in Physical and Health Education. Prof Goon is a Level II Criterion Kinanthropometrist accredited by the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK), and a member of the World Academy of Science and Technology and Public Health Association of South Africa (PHASA). Prof Goon is a profiled researcher, accredited in 2014 by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa as a C-3 Rated Established Researcher. His scientific achievements in knowledge advancement covers sport and exercise science, biokinetics, kinanthropometry, anthropometry and body composition assessment, obesity, physical growth and development in children, physical fitness testing, HIV and AIDS, and public health epidemiology, culminating in research publications in national and international impact factor journals. Prof Goon has attended and presented over 25 papers in international conferences. He reviews papers for 13 international journals. Prof Goon has received several research awards including the University of Venda awards for active researcher-2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. In 2012, he won the University of Venda Vice Chancellor’s award for Excellence in Research in the category of researcher with the highest Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) publication output. Prof Goon has made remarkable contributions to local and international research capacity building for lecturers in a number of South African universities, by co-facilitated academic writing and publication workshops for lecturers at the following universities: University of Venda, Vaal University of Technology, Monash University, South Africa, University of Limpopo, University of Western Cape, University of Fort Hare, and Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, Nigeria.
