Biography

Dr Olubunmi Abosede Wintola is a Postdoctoral Research fellow at the University of Fort Hare, Alice, South Africa. I have a PhD in Ethnobotany at the University of Fort Hare, Alice South Africa. I am a holder of a Master of Science degree in Agronomy and a Bachelor of Agriculture from Nigeria respectively.
My research interests include both fundamental and applied aspects of plant biodiversity, preservation, bioactivity, isolation and characterization of phytochemical compounds and toxicology of plants. My research has focused on using a multidisciplinary approach to address fundamental questions in plant identification and bioactivity with the objective to develop the tools required for basic plant based identification and evaluation of bioactive compounds for medicinal purposes.
Specific projects that I have been involved with includes the use of medicinal plants in the management of constipation, male sexual dysfunction, dysentery and other stomach related problems and infections. I have more than eight years of research experience, besides my ten years of teaching experience derived from both my undergraduate and post graduate studies.
I am endowed with invaluable skills such as assiduity, team coherence and an honest work ethic that cannot be learned by theory only. My proficiency to initiate research projects, lead and supervise subordinates effectively has enabled me to write 29 scientific papers, 22 of which have been fully published in peer-reviewed Journals and seven are currently under review.
