Biography

Dr. John Bosco Balaguru Rayappan is currently working as Associate Dean (Research) School of Electrical & Electronics Engineering & Centre for Nanotechnology & Advanced Biomaterial, SASTRA University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India. He obtained his PhD and MSc in Physics (Specialization-Condensed Matter Physics), from St. Joseph’s College, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli in 2003 & 1998 respectively. He has been active in research since 2003 in diverse fields such as Lattice Dynamics, Nanosensors, and Biosensors and published more than 150 research articles in these fields. He has set-up and heading Nanosensors Laboratory at SASTRA University through research grants obtained from DST, New Delhi, DRDO, New Delhi and SASTRA University. He supervised 2 PhD and 45 Master student thesis, 6 PhD and 5 Master student thesis are currently in his supervision. He also organized number of workshops at national and international level. He is a member of editorial board and reviewer of many journals. He has developed a web course for the subject “Physics & Applications of Semiconductor Nanostructures (Semiconductor Nanodevices)”. The content has been in online since March 2013. This has been supported by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Dr. John Bosco received honors and fellowship includes SAPHIRE Award, Professor Dimitrios Nikalelis Award, and Symphony Chair Professor. He has published 86 research articles in journals as author/co-author. He also published 1 patent and filed 5 patents in national journals.
