Dr. Timothy Jon Bartness is currently working as Professor, and Director, University Center for Obesity Reversal at Georgia State University, Departments of Biology and of Psychology, Atlanta, GA. He obtained his Ph.D. in Psychology from University of Florida, Florida, USA in 1982. He also worked as Post Doctoral Associate VA Medical Center & University of Minnesota, Senior Research Associate at Worcester Foundation for Experimental Biology, Shrewsbury, MA, and Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Georgia State University. His area of research interest related to Control of Lipid Metabolism by the Sympathetic Nervous System and Sensory Innervation of White Adipose Tissue, Control of Thermogenesis by the Sympathetic Nervous System and Sensory Innervation of Brown Adipose Tissue, Environmental, Neural and Hormonal Control of Food Acquisition (Foraging and hoarding). Dr. Timothy Jon Bartness received honors includes National Institutes of Health New Investigator Award, National Institutes of Mental Health ADAMHA Research Scientist Development Award Level, Outstanding Faculty Achievement Award, and Alumni Distinguished Professor Award. He also received number of grants for his research work. He is also member of editorial/advisory board in number of journals. He is also serving as referee in more than 108 different journals. He has published 162 research papers in journals, 203 abstract/papers/ poster presentations, and review 49 articles and invited book chapters contributed as author/co-author. He supervised 9 MS, 9 PhD students, 11 Post Doctoral Fellow, and 1 Research Scientist. Currently he is supervising 2 MS and 4 PhD, 2 Postdoctoral and 1 Research Scientist. He is professional member of American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Physiological Society, Endocrine Society, and North American Society for the Study of Obesity, Society for Behavioral Neuroendocrinology, Society for Neuroscience, Society for Research on Biological Rhythms, and Society for the Study of Ingestive Behavior.
