Dr. Qunwei Zhang is currently working as Associate Professor, Associate Scientist in James Graham Brown Cancer Center, and Member of Center for Genetics and Molecular Medicine at University of Louisville, USA. He is also serving as Adjunct Professor in Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences, P.R of China, Member of Center for Environmental Genomics and Integrative Biology, Faculty Mentor in Environmental Health Sciences Training Grant, Adjunct Professor at School of Public Health, Peking University, and School of Public Health, Fujiang Medical University. Dr. Zhang received his MD degree from Fujiang Medical University and his MPH degree from the School of Public Health at Zhejiang University, China. After three years of experimental and clinical studies on the treatment of Pneumoconiosis by whole Lung Lavage, he entered a graduate program in the University of Fukui School of Medicine, Japan, and was got his PhD degree in 2000 for study of the Mechanism of Pulmonary effects of Metals Nano-Particles. His subsequent post-doctoral training was in laboratory at New York University School of Medicine where he studied the Molecular Mechanisms of Metal Toxicity and Carcinogenesis. He was then recruited to the Institute for Environmental Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center as a Research Associate and Institute Associate Investigator, where he studied on the Mechanism of Oxidative Injury in Lung Ischemia-reperfusion. He has supervised 7 students thesis. Dr. Zhang received honors includes Faculty Award, Scientific Importance, Research! Louisville, Walter A. Rosenblith New Investigator Award from Health Effects Institute, Travel Grant, Third British Epidemiology and Public Health Course, Hiroshima, Japan, and Outstanding Scientific Researcher in Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences, Zhejiang Province, P.R. of China. His main area of scientific research focuses on Nanotoxicology, Pulmonary Toxicology, Metal Toxicology, Genotoxicology and Carcinogenesis, Lung Ischemia and Ion Channels, Free Radicals and Pulmonary Diseases, Gene expression and function, Ambient Ultrafine particles and NADPH Oxidase, and signal transduction involved in Tumor Promotion, Prevention and Cellular Function. He is professional member of Society of Toxicology, American Thoracic Society, and Kentucky Public Health Association. He is also serving as reviewer for number of journals, proposal regarding the potential publications, and reviewer for abstract for conference, and grants and study sections. He has published 7 book chapters, 74 research articles in peer review journals, 92 abstracts and presentations contributed as author/co-author. He also completed number of granted projects as principal investigator.
