Biography

Ayman A. El-Badry, M.D, is a Professor & lab consultant of Medical Parasitology at the College of Medicine & King Fahad Hospital of the University, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (Previously Dammam University), Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Prior to this, he worked as university staff member of medical parasitology for more than 20 years at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt and was the head of the diagnostic and research unit of parasitic diseases (DRUP) for over 5 years. He initiated a training program in molecular medical parasitology research. He was the founder of the Lab of Molecular Medical Parasitology (LMMP) in 2014 and head of the LMMP for the first 3years.

Prof. Ayman has over 100 scientific papers and research projects (published or presented).
He has worked in different international labs with renowned specialists in the field of molecular parasitology and has created an extensive network in between his labs and international labs.

For more than 25 years, he has been teaching medical parasitology (Clinical & Diagnostic Parasitology, Immuno-parasitology & Molecular Parasitology, Ultrastructure of Human Parasites [Protozoa & Helminth], Microscopy) for undergraduate & postgraduate medical students. He has supervised many post-graduate student theses.

He is a member of multiple scientific committees, scientific societies and scientific conference committees. He is the associate editor of national and international journals. His research interests are Clinical & Diagnostic (Conventional, Immuno and molecular) Parasitology, Molecular parasitology, parasite bioinformatics, Novel therapeutics of Parasitic Diseases and vector & vector borne diseases. His research is primarily focused on molecular diagnostics and genotypic variance analysis of human parasites that have great impact on human health in addition to microscopy and immunodiagnostics.

His academic interests are in medical education, developing effective teaching pedagogy, curriculum & course design and methods of evaluation. His pedagogical style strives to combine a variety of approaches, using blended learning and horizontal & vertical integrated learning, to keep students engaged, and develop students’ problem-solving skills. He strives to integrate as much hands-on applied science opportunities as possible. His policy is to involve students as much as possible in research. He is committed to making sure that he remains accessible for all his students, by providing sufficient open office/lab hours for students to consult him and discuss any questions/areas of interest they might have.
