Biography

Dr. Gamal Khalil was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1953. He obtained M.Sc. degree in Soil Physics from Assiut University, Egypt in 1984 and Ph.D. degree in Soil Physics from Alexandria University, Egypt in1991. He joined the Department of Soils and Agricultural Chemistry, Alexandria University, Egypt as Lecturer in 1991, Assistant Professor in 1996 and Full Professor in 2002. He is specialized in Soil Physics & Water Management and is involved in teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses in Soil Physics program (Soil Physics, Advanced Soil Physics, Applied Soil Physics, Environmental Soil Physics, Solid Waste Management, Soil Hydrology, Soil Water and Plant Relations and Transport Processes in soil environment). His research is focused on fate and transport of pollutants in soil and groundwater, water and solute transport in soil, soil remediation with organic wastes. He has authored and co-authored over 95 scientific publications in refereed journals. He is Editor and Associate Editor of many international journals. He was a supervisor and co-supervisor of 23 M.Sc. and Ph.D. students and contributed for 14 scientific projects. He regularly reviews papers for scientific journals as well as research proposals and projects for governmental agencies.
