Dr. Nahla S. El-Shenawy is currently working as Professor of Animal Physiology and Toxicology, Zoology Department, Faculty of Science at Suez Canal University Ismailia, Egypt. He obtained his PhD in the field of Faculty of Science from same University, and in Biology Department, Portsmouth University, UK in 2000. His topic of PhD thesis is “Ecotoxicological studies on the effect of organic pesticides (atrazine and lindane) on the marine mussel, Mytilus edulis (Mollusca: Bivalvia)”. He is member of following science societies, Egyptian-German Society of zoology, Union of Arab Biologists, Egyptian Society of toxicology, Society of Zoology, Egyptian Society of Renal Failure, Society of Renal Failure in Cairo Egypt, British Biological Society, Natural Toxins, Egyptian Society for Environmental Science Ismailia, Egypt, New Zealand Marine Sciences Society, Saudi Arabian Society for Biology, Egyptian Red Crescent Port said, Egypt. Dr Nahla S. El-Shenawy worked as Professor, Associate Professor in Biology Department and Zoology Department, Coordinator for the workshops in Toxicology and Micro-analytical Research unit, Demonstrator in Zoology Department for Under Graduate Students in Suez Canal University, Ismailia, Egypt. His research experience includes, isolation of rat hepatocytes and cardiomyocytes, using the bivalve as biomonitoring for the environmental pollution by detecting their valve movement, using snails as biomarkers for terrestrial pollution with heavy metals. Dr. Nahla S. El-Shenawy received number of honors and awards includes, the second prize from the Gaza Community Service and Environmental Development, Certificate of Merit and Appreciation production outstanding for scientific research at Suez Canal University, Taif University Award for scientific publishing. Dr. Nahla S. El-Shenawy attended many seminars, workshops and conferences. He published 79 articles in journals at national and international level as author/co-author. He supervised 1 PhD student thesis and 12 Master students thesis, 1 PhD student thesis and 5 Master students thesis are currently in his supervision.
