He is a chief researcher at Horticulture Research Institute, Agricultural Research Center (ARC), Egypt. He was the Head of the Cross-Pollinated Vegetable Crops Research Department (2015-2018). He specializes in Vegetable Crops. His special attention has been given to improving the adaptation of vegetables’ vulnerability to climate change, analysis of the response to abiotic stresses in vegetable plants, and finding innovative effective practical sustainable adaptive practices and technologies that may be adopted to reduce negative climate change impacts, improve plant production, and maintaining environmental conservation. Special attention is given to physiological, biochemical, molecular, and plant breeding studies. His work has focused on the development of effective technology in plant production, soil management and conservation using organic and micro-organism and crop residue management. He has over 39 published articles (15 in high-impact journals as first author) and three book chapter. Google Scholar collected a total of above 1429 citations with an h-index of 13. He has been named to Stanford's 2024 Global Top 2% Scientists List. The list is a ranking that identifies researchers from across the world. He has led numerous national and state-funded projects to build the adaptive capacity of the farming community. He carried out several seminars, training courses, and farmer field schools to raise the skills of extension workers and farmers in applying technical recommendations for the cultivation and production of vegetable crops and reducing soil pollution. He has been a keynote speaker and presenter of papers at 20 national and international conferences and workshops. His work has been recognized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). His case study "Soil pollution management in vegetable fields in the eastern Nile Delta" has been selected for presentation at the Case Studies of Agrifood System Technologies and Innovations for Climate Action Session of the FAO Science and Innovation Forum (SIF) 2023, which was held on Thursday, 19 October 2023, at the FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy. The presentation provided an enlightening example of the technological and innovative solutions that have been validated and make a tangible impact on the environment, communities, and economies. The case study represents the epitome of what FAO aims to achieve – innovative, practical, and replicable solutions that demonstrate the way.
