Biography

Amina Yusuf Jega attended Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Applied Chemistry in 2010. She obtained both her Master of Science (MSc) and Doctorate degree in Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry from the reputable Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2014 and 2018, respectively in record time. Amina also earned a Professional Diploma in Education from the Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in the year 2019. She also bagged a Professional Diploma in Computer Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Network (UDUNet) in 2008. Amina have participated in different workshops and training covering Peer Education Training Course, Project Management and Certificate in the Usage of Microsoft Office Project 2007, Life Skills Teacher Initiative Workshop, HIV Counseling and Testing Refresher Training, Pharmacological Models in the Development of Indigenous Drugs, Baseline Data Collection, Scientific Writing/Publication and Plagiarism.

Currently, Ms. Amina works with the Department of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria. She is the current Examination officer of same Department. Amina has published in both reputable local and international journals as well as attended conferences and presented her research works both locally and internationally. Her area of specialization is Natural product chemistry with more emphasis to isolation, characterization and testing of pharmacological actions of bioactives from natural sources. Aside from the administrative responsibilities at her work place, Amina is a member of Institute of Strategic Management Nigeria (ISMN), Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), West African Society for Pharmacology – Societe Ouest Africaine de Pharmacologie (WASP-SOAP), Society for Medicinal Plants and Economic Development (SOMPED), Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). She is also an editorial member and a reviewer to various reputable Journals some of which include Journal of Medical and Biological Research, Basic Research Journal of Medicine and Clinical Sciences, British Journal of Pharmaceutical Research, International Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, Asian Journal of Chemical Sciences (AJCS), Caliphate Journal of Science and Technology (CaJOST), International Journal of Pharmacognosy and Phytotherapy Research, Journal of Pharmaceutical Research International, Universal Journal of Pharmaceutical Research.

Amina has taught and mentored many undergraduate and postgraduate students. She has also supervised several undergraduate and Masters student projects.
