Dr. Lawan Adamu is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine graduate from the University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. It is my pleasure to have co-supervised Dr. Lawan Adamu in his Ph.D. program in 2010, Dr. Lawan Adamu registered as an MVSc candidate in equine medicine at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universiti Putra Malaysia. Since his progress in the program was better than expected, we converted his studies to the Ph.D. programme, which was on "Metabolic crisis index as a predictor of metabolic crisis in endurance horses". This study is a first of its kind. The study was completed in January 2014 and he has now graduated.
Dr. Lawan Adamu is a prolific writer; thus during his tenure as a graduate student, he authored and co-authored more than 100 journal and proceedings papers. Dr. Lawan Adamu desires to improve his clinical skills in veterinary medicine. Dr. Lawan Adamu is a quiet and unassuming person and adaptable to new environments. He gets along well with his peers and teachers. Given the opportunity, I am most confident that he will do well in the field supervisor position. His research interest is Equine infectious, non-infectious and equine sport medicine, particularly Equine endurance and he has a broad knowledge of data manning and statistical analysis. He is currently an Associate Professor and head of the Veterinary Medicine Department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Maiduguri
