Biography

Dr Adeneye Olarewaju Adeleye AWOFALA is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Science and Technology Education, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos. Dr Awofala had his secondary education at Agbowa Community Grammar School, Agbowa-Ikosi, Lagos State. He proceeded to the Tai Solarin College of Education for Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE) in Mathematics and Biology and finished in 1996. Because of his love for education, he moved to the University of Ibadan for his Bachelor of Education degree in Teacher Education/Mathematics/Economics and he was the best graduating student in his set. He was awarded the Federal Government of Nigeria Merit Award for Academic Distinction in Teacher Education, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, 1998/99 session and Ransome Kuti award for Academic Distinction in Teacher Education, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, 1998/99 session. Dr Awofala had two Master’s degrees from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria; first in Teacher Education specializing in Mathematics Education in 2003 and second in Pure Mathematics specializing in Functional Analysis in 2006. He got his PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of Ibadan in 2010.
He is an ardent researcher and an experienced teacher and has taught at every level of education in Nigeria. His areas of specialization and interests are: teaching and learning of Mathematics and the use of research to improve the quality of teaching and learning in schools. Prior to his appointment at the University of Lagos, Dr. Awofala was a Senior Research Officer with the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council, Abuja between 2008 and 2011. He worked briefly at the Tai Solarin University of Education in 2011. He is currently teaching undergraduate and graduate courses at the Faculty of Education in the University of Lagos. He is a member of numerous Professional Organizations such as the Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (STAN), Curriculum Organisation of Nigeria (CON) and the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN). He has published widely in both Local and International Journals with over 80 publications to his credit. Dr Awofala’s works are visible on Google Scholar, Loop, Research Gate, Academia, Publon and ORCID. He is happily married with children.
