Biography

Dr. Binang, Walter Bisong is a Professor of Agronomy at the University of Calabar, Calabar where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture [B. Agric. (Hons.) Crop Science] and a Masters' Degree in Agronomy in 1992 and 2000, respectively. He is also a 2008 holder of a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Crop Production/Physiology from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike.

Dr. Binang is a member of several professional associations including the Agricultural Society of Nigeria, Crop Science Society of Nigeria, Soil Science Society of Nigeria, and International Union of Soil Science, and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. He has attended many conferences at which he presented well-received papers. Dr.Binang has supervised and examined many postgraduate theses and dissertations and has assessed several candidates for professorial appointment. His current research interests are in the agronomy of neglected and underutilized legumes as well as the domestication of pesticidal plants as potential non-food cash crops. Among other administrative postilions, he served as Dean, the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Wildlife Resources Management, University of Calabar, Calabar from 2021 to 2023.
