I am a plant biotechnologist with a Ph.D. in plant Biotechnology from University of Calabar, Nigeria. I was a visiting research scientist for two years at the Laboratory of Plant Cell Technology, Graduate School of Horticulture, Chiba University, Japan. After my Ph.D. research in Japan, I returned to the University of Calabar, where I currently carryout teaching and research in the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology. I have worked on some research programs with funding from Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Nigerian Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). I am a recipient of the Plant Breeding Academy of the University of California (UC) Davis fellowship for the Africa Plant Breeding Academy (AfPBA) CRISPR course (first cohort), 2023. Through my experience and skills, I have mentored and graduated several Bachelor students, published 1 book chapter, 14 peer review articles and 9 conference papers. I believe that my academic training, skills, and work experience have positioned me to be a valuable academic and researcher in the field of plant biotechnology.
