Belay Duguma Eticha was born on 31 December 1968 in Wollega, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. He started his university education in the former Alemaya University (now Haramaya University) in Ethiopia where he obtained his Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Animal Sciences and MSc degree in Animal Production in 1990 and 2002, respectively. After his BSc study, he joined Jimma Zone Agricultural Development Department, Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia, and worked as Animal production and Forge Development senior expert from 1990-2002. After his MSc study, he worked as Dean of kombolcha Agricultural Training College from October 2002 to December 2003. Then he joined Jimma University as a lecturer and served as Department Head of Animal Science from August 2004 to September 2010. He got awarded his PhD fellowship from the project “VLIR-JU institutional university collaboration (UOS) between different Flemish universities in Belgium and Jimma University in Ethiopia”. He is a PhD candidate and Associate Professor in academic rank. He is an author and co-author of 28 research articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, as well as 12 articles and abstracts published in international and national conference proceedings. He is the author of a teaching text book and co-author of one reference book published by LAMBERT Academic Publishing. He has conducted oral and poster presentations on international conferences. During his PhD research, he has attended various courses and laboratory training in Belgium and Ethiopia.
