Biography

Dr. Alexis Conides is currently working as Research Director of the Institute for Marine Biological Resources and Inland Waters of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. He obtained his PhD in Aquaculture and Fisheries Population Dynamics from University of Athens, in 1992 & 2011 respectively. He was received Medal of Conspicuous Gallantry of the Greek Boy Scout Corps awarded by the President of Hellenic Republic. His professional experience includes worked as Freelance Ichthyologist for the Design, Installation and Support of several Fish Farms in Greece, worked for the Government Company Aquaculture Centre for Acheloos SA at Messolonghi, Hellenic Centre for Marine Research under contract for the project Intensive culture of the shrimps Penaeus, Visiting Professor at University of Thessaly (Greece), and Researcher, Senior Researcher, and Voice Director at Institute for Marine Biological Resources of the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research. He also participated in Greek and International Committees for the refereeing of publications, and research projects. He is also serving as member of editorial board in journals. He is member of professional organizations such as Greek Geotechnical Chamber as Ichthyologist, World Aquaculture Society, and Provisional Auditor of the International Organization IRCA for the Accreditation of Auditors, member and representative for Greece of the network CONARGA (Consorzio Nazionale di Ricerca per la Gambericoltura) which includes Institutes and Universities of Italy working on Shrimp Culture. He has published (3) thesis, (62) papers in peer review journals, (6) papers without peer review journal, (22) papers in national conferences and (80) papers in international conferences (12) books and book chapters contributed as author/co-author.
