Biography

Dr. Milena Horvat is currently working as Head of the Department of Environmental Sciences of the Jozef Stefan Institute (JSI) in Ljubljana, and Head of Ecotechnology, postgraduate programme at the International Postgraduate School Jozef Stefan and Coordinator at Center of Excellence for Environmental Technologies. She has completed her Ph.D. in Environmental Analytical Chemistry from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Dr. Milena received honors includes Ambassador of Science of the Republic of Slovenia and The state Zois Award for scientific achievements. She is also serving as member of committees and expert group such as WHO WG Children’s Health and Mercury Exposure, National coordinator at MVSZT, NAMA, COST Technical Committee Environment, representative of Slovenia, Certification Panel for the BCR, EU, WG for the preparation of the position paper on Hg, American Geophysics Union and so on. She also worked on more than 17 EU research projects. She has published 146 research articles in journals, over 400 presentations in conferences, 12 book chapters, and 8 monographs contributed as author/co-author.
