Dr. Simone Fattorini obtained his D.Phil in Animal Biology from University of Rome-La Sapienza, Italy. Currently he is working as Associate Research Fellow at University of the Azores, Portugal. He was received Associate Collaborators Prize 2014 by the Azorean Biodiversity Group, and Giovanni Binaghi Award, Italian Entomological Society. He served as project reviewer for the National Science Foundation USA, the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research - Earth and Life Sciences and the National Science Centre Poland. He reviewed papers for 61 journals. He is member of the editorial boards of Diversity, ISRN Zoology, Journal of Insect Biodiversity, and Biogeographia. He edited the book Insect Ecology and Conservation, Research Signpost, Trivandrum, and Kerala. He has authored 92 papers published in ISI journals, 69 papers in other journals, congress proceedings or as book chapters, 23 book reviews, and two books. He is professional member of European Invertebrate Survey, Italian Entomological Society, and Rome Entomological Association. He also participated in number of congresses and workshops. His main scientific interest includes Insect Conservation, Island Biogeography, Historical Biogeography, Spatial Patterns of Biodiversity, Diversity Theory, Macroecology, Ecological Restoration, Ecology and Ethology of Tenebrionid Beetles and sand Dwelling Arthropods, Systematics, Taxonomy and Phylogeny of Tenebrionid and Paussine Beetles, Ecology and Ethology of Insect-Eating Raptors, and Science Dissemination.
