Dr. Stefano Loppi is currently working as Assistant Professor in Environmental Botany at the University of Siena, Italy. He received his PhD in Environmental Biology from the University of Siena. His research area related to Biological effects of air pollution on sensitive organisms (lichens), use of the diversity of epiphytic lichens as a measure of air quality, bioaccumulation of persistent pollutants, Ecophysiologiocal parameters as early warning indicators of environmental change. He is also member of editorial board in many journals. He is working as member of the Steering Committee of the Italian Lichen Society, Secretary of the Italian Lichen Society, President of the Italian Lichen Society, Steering Committee of the Foundation for Climate and Sustainability. Dr. Stefano Loppi received scientific honors includes, Elsevier highly cited author in the period 2007-2010, Lichen biomonitoring of ammonia emission and nitrogen deposition around a pig stock farm, Winner of the VI edition of the International Award Marcial Campos for thermal research with the paper: Biomonitorizacion ambiental con IBL como instrumento importante para la certification ambiental. He has published 93 research papers in national and international journals.
