Professor and Researcher of the Forest Fire Laboratory (Faculty of Forest Sciences and Nature Conservation, University of Chile, from 1995 to date). Author of national (SciELO) and international (Wos-ISI) publications related to various areas of fire management: fire ecology and restoration, civil protection, urban-forest interface, as well as the design and implementation of fire management tools for taking decisions, and the mathematical and cartographic modeling of phenomena related to the behavior of fire, its economic, social and territorial consequences. Experience since 1995 in Mathematical Cartography and geomatic applications. Responsible for various research projects based on competitive funds (FONDEF, CONAF, others). He has been professor of this Faculty in the line of Fire Management, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and lately in the Graduate School teaching subjects related to Fire Ecology and Geomatics applied to forest fire control. Professor of the Doctorate of Silvo-agricultural and Veterinary Sciences of the University of Chile and the Master in Wild Areas and Nature Conservation. Professor of the Master in Environmental Management and Planning. Member of the Asian Council of Science Editors, and arbitrator of various international magazines related to modeling in forest fires. He has obtained specializations in Remote Sensing and GIS in Spain, Portugal and Colombia. Consultant of national and international projects and rapporteur of various training courses with special emphasis on the application of cartographic tools for the integrated study of the territory. Expert in forest expertise and investigation of causes and analysis of large-scale claims and historical behavior of fire. Presence in national and international media. As a consultant, he has investigated the main forest fires that occurred in Chile, especially the 2017 mega-fires in Chile. He is currently the Director of the Department of Forest Management and Full-time Professor of Undergraduate and Postgraduate subjects. Researcher attached to the Forest Fire Laboratory of the University of Chile.
