Fauzan Mohd Jakarni received a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Civil from the Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2004. After completing the study, he started his academic and research career as a tutor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the Universiti Putra Malaysia, and at the same time continuing his master’s degree. In 2006, he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Highway and Transportation Engineering from the Universiti Putra Malaysia for his work on the development of criteria and procedures for the newly developed laboratory slab roller compactor. In 2007, he commenced his study at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom by joining the Nottingham Transportation Engineering Centre (NTEC) research group as a postgraduate research student (PhD) working on a research project entitled Adhesion of Asphalt Mixtures. The main objective of the research project was to develop and establish a laboratory adhesion test method that can be used to directly measure the adhesive bond strength and failure characteristics of asphalt mixture materials. In 2012, he was awarded a degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Civil Engineering. Fauzan’s research interests are in the area of asphalt pavement, particularly in the adhesion, adhesive bond strength and failure characteristics of thin films of bitumen (bitumen-filler mastic) and aggregates, moisture damage mechanisms of asphalt mixtures, fundamental and rheological properties of asphalt mixture materials, mechanical performance and distress mechanisms of asphalt pavement and testing of asphalt mixtures.
