Biography

Professor Sivarao Subramonian is currently the Director for Commercialization Centre, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, who is fully responsible for high impact churning of innovation, Intellectual properties, & Commercialization from R&D activities. Pausing in 1989, he then continued his career in the year of 1991as a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer at Politeknik Ungku Omar. He then progressed to Politeknik Shah Alam, and later Politeknik Johor Bahru who eventually joined UTeM in 2003. Between these years, valuable industrial experiences have also been gained while being Mechanical Engineering Consultant since year 1997 to date. The primary role of his position and interest is to develop innovative technologies towards commercialization via high impact research & development activities. Thus, industrial engagements are critically designed for action value proposition for high impact commercialization of readily available technologies. Besides that, value creation of the established technologies are also carefully framed and protected by suitable intellectual properties. Those of which protected, are also taken ahead for innovation competitions which has won numerous prestigious medals at national and international level globally. Over the years, he has successfully commercialized three of his own technologies/solutions, besides tens of others in less than 3 years. He also published more than 150 articles in indexed journals, proceedings and books. He also owns 15 patents, more than 45 research grants (Industry, ministry, University) worth of more than RM 5 Million, relevant to the field of Innovative Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering. He has also won various prestigious innovation medals globally, while having been appointed as panel / jury member for more than 30 numerous & prestigious professional and official events including one in Italy. He is also the editorial board member / reviewer for more than 20 international journals and conferences.
