Ang, Mei Choo is a Research Fellow in the Institute of Visual Informatics, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia since 2011. She is also a TRIZ Level III Practitioner and Level I Instructor certified by Malaysia TRIZ Innovation Association. She had held three research positions overseas: the Honorary Research Fellow of Birmingham University, United Kingdom (2012-2015), Visiting Research Fellow (2010–2012), and Visiting Post-doctoral Researcher (2008–2010) at the Manufacturing Engineering Centre, Cardiff University, United Kingdom. She started her academic career as a tutor (1994-1996) and then a lecturer (1996-2008) in the Faculty of Information Science and Technology. She was promoted to be a senior lecturer in 2008. As a lecturer, she has been involved in lecturing of Mathematics and programming languages. She was awarded the E-Learning Award in the most active course category for Discrete Mathematics in 2011. She obtained her B.Sc. in Mathematics with Honours from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 1994. Following that, she was awarded M.Sc. (Control Systems) from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom with distinction in 1996. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom in the area of the application of evolutionary algorithm in product design in 2008. Her research interests include evolutionary algorithms, Bees Algorithm, intelligent algorithms, shape grammars, TRIZ, TRIZ inspired operators, and design support system.
