Dr. Azlina Ahmad is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Visual Informatics (IVI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) where she has been the Deputy Director and a research fellow since 2011. Previously, she was in the Industrial Computing Department at the Faculty of Information Science and Technology, UKM where she has been a faculty member since 1994.
Azlina received her Ph.D. in Multimedia from University of Malaya and her undergraduate and master studies in Mathematics at Indiana University, USA. Her research interests lie in the area of virtual learning, social computing and computer-aided design. She has been the principal investigator on research projects sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education. She has experience in Project Management and is a certified Appraisal Team Members (ATM) for Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 2 from Carnegie-Melon University, USA. She has published over 30 papers in conferences and journals. She has taught numerous master and undergraduate courses in mathematics, computer graphics and information technology. Currently, she is supervising 8 PhD students and 2 full research Master students. She is also co-supervising a post-doctoral candidate in the area of big data analytics.
Azlina has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines such as Islamic banking and finance, social science and humanities and engineering. She has served on national and international conferences and workshops as program committees. She has been the assistant secretary to ICT Cluster of the National Professors Council for 2 consecutive terms since 2010. She has also served as the honorable secretary to the Malaysian Information Technology Society (MITS) for 3 years.
