Biography

Dr. Aziz Bin Ahmad obtained his first degree; Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Biochemistry & Microbiology from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, Serdang Selangor in 1994 and Doctoral degree in Plant Biochemistry in 2000 from the same University. Subsequetnly, Dr. Aziz began his career as a Lecturer at the Department of Biological Science, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) in 2001 and was promoted to be Associate Professor in early 2007. He taught Biochemistry, Physiology, Plant Biochemistry and Biotechnology. To date, he has supervised (10) PhD (11) Master Science and (99) undergraduate research projects. Dr. Aziz had served in administrative in UMT as Senate (November 2008-March 2009; December (2014-current), Head of Publisher of UMT Publisher (2011-2012). Deputy Dean (Academics and Student Affair) at Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) from May 2008 to October 2010, Head of Department of Biological Sciences, FST (April 2006-April 2008), and Head of Marine Biotechnology Research Group (2006-2008). Currently, he is the Dean of Centre for Fundamental and Liberal Education, UMT. His contribution to University has been recognized by receiving UMT Excellence Service Award in 2012 and 2008. Dr. Aziz is active in research activities. His research interest is Production of Natural Products and Stress Tolerant Mechanism in Plants. Currently, his research activities are Genetic Engineering of Fatty Acids Biosynthesis and Heat-Shock Protein. He has published more than 30 articles in refereed journal and more than 40 papers published and/or presented in proceeding and seminar conferences/ seminars/ symposiums at national and international level. To date, he has served a reviewer for the Journal of Bioresource Technology, Asian Journal of Biotechnology, Malaysian Applied Biology, Pakistan Journal of Biological Science and Chinese Journal of Oceonology and Limnology. Currently, he is also the editorial board member for Journal of Sustainability Science and Management, UMT Publisher and Associate Editor for Malaysian Applied Biology Journal, UKM Publisher.
