Dr. Abdul Manaf Ali is currently working as Professor Faculty of Agriculture & Biotechnology, Director of Postgraduate Center, and Deputy Vice Chancellor at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Malaysia. He has completed his Ph.D. in Experimental Haematology from St. Andrews University, Scotland. He has received number of research grants for his research work. In 1989, he was offered a Lecturer position at the Department of Biotechnology, Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, to teach and develop research program at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has supervised more than 90 post graduate students (MS and PhD) as a main or co supervisor and published more than 150 papers in referred journals and 3 books. Currently 3 PhD and 8 Master students registered at UniSZA under my supervision. During his seventeen years in service to UPM, he was awarded as an excellent Lecturer under SSB and SSM systems. His contribution in the field of biotechnology/ natural products has materialized through the Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and the Malaysian Natural Products Society. He was the co-founder and the first Secretary of Malaysian Society for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and later became its president from 1997-1999. He was a managing editor of Asia Pacific Journal of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from 1997-2001. The journal was listed in the Institute Scientific Information (Current Contents) and the Cambridge Abstract Databases. He was invited to be a technical adviser for cell culture experiment in space by ANGKASA, MOSTI in 2008. His contribution to the Malaysian citizen in general is through the Interfaith Outreach Program, an organization to assist Malaysian to understand each other in religion and to facilitate Malaysian citizen in helping of the unfortunate.
