Md. Abu Sayed has been serving as Associate Professor as well as Chairman in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur, Bangladesh since 16 May, 2017 and 23 September, 2017, respectively. He obtained Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Honours) in 2007 and Master of Science in Biochemistry in 2009 from Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh, Bangladesh securing CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) 3.807(out of 4.00) and 3.919 (out of 4.00), respectively. He obtained PhD degree from Iwate University, Japan in March, 2017. Initially, he joined as a Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, HSTU, Dinajpur, Bangladesh on 16 May, 2010. Subsequently, he up-gradated to Assistant Professor on 16 May, 2012. He visited the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Gothenburg, Sweden under the program Linnaeus – Palme planning funded by the Swedish Council for Higher Education from 15 – 21 May, 2019 to make teacher and student exchange program. He was also selected as Visiting Researcher under the project “Molecular breeding of salt tolerant wheat varieties”, which is part of the VR/SIDA exchange project between Sweden and Bangladesh, offered by the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Gothenburg, Sweden from September – October, 2018. Mr. Sayed has been awarded Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship for PhD study in the field of Plant Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Iwate University in Japan. He was awarded as Visiting Research Fellow under the visiting fellowship scheme 2013 for three month by School of Biomedical Sciences (Now Life Science), The University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. Mr. Sayed was selected as an Academic Visitor by The University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, under joint British Council INSPIRE Strategic Partnership Project SP-0112 “Adaptation to Climate Change: food security, water resources and rural resilience in western Bangladesh” 27-31 August, 2012. He also was awarded NSICT fellowship funded by Ministry of National, Science and Information and Communication Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in 2008.
Mr. Sayed has been continuing his research work since of his early career life. He published his fundamental research papers in several peer-reviewed International and National Journals. Mr. Sayed participated and presented his research findings at many National and International conferences. As young scientist and having research potentiality, he is supervising good number of students at post graduate level.
