Dr. Junzo Watada received his B.S. and M.S. and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Osaka City University Japan. He is a Professor of Management Engineering, Knowledge Engineering and Soft Computing at Graduate School of Information, Production & Systems, Waseda University since 2003, after having contributed for 13 years as a Professor of Human Informatics and Knowledge Engineering, to the School of Industrial Engineering at Osaka Institute of Technology, Japan. He was with Faculty of Business Administration, Ryukoku University for 8 years. Before moving to Academia, he was with Fujitsu ltd. co, where he worked on development of software systems as a senior system engineer for 7 years. His research includes theoretical and methodological fields such as developing fuzzy systems and intelligent systems for text mining, data mining, and data analysis, decision support systems and experts systems, financial engineering, macro-ergonomics and so on. He works actively on Soft Computing methods which include Genetic Algorithms, Neural Networks, Chaos Systems as well as Fuzzy Systems. Especially he contributes in developing methodologies for Financial Engineering and Fuzzy Multivariate Analysis for analysis of Economics and Corporations. His area of research interest focuses on in Flexible Manufacturing, he solves combinatorial NP complex problems using DNA Computing and in Biomedical Systems. Dr. Watada works on DNA Informatics and Kansei Engineering. The method is important to build a smart comfortable space for people. Also he works on multi-camera tracking systems of car and human behaviors on a highway, a town and a building. He has published 223 research articles in journals contributed as author/co-author. Dr. Watada received honors includes The Contribution Award at ISIS2002 in Korea, Excellent Presentation Award of SCIS2002 at Tsukuba, Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics as Certified Professional Ergonomist by Japan Ergonomics Society, Contribution Award, Biomedical Fuzzy Systems Association, and The best paper award, KAIS2011 held on Nov. 3-5 2011 at Gyeongju, Korea and many others.
