Ka-Veng Yuen is Professor in civil and environmental engineering at the University of Macau. He is listed in the national expert banks for science and technology programs and science and technology awards of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People`s Republic of China. He received his B.S., M.Phil., and Ph.D. degrees from the National Taiwan University, HKUST and Caltech, respectively. He received the Young Investigator Award by the International Chinese Association of Computational Mechanics in 2011. He was elected as Honorary Member of the Phi-Tau-Phi Scholastic Society, and he was the first recipient of the G.W. Housner`s graduate student fellowship. He is the author of the book Bayesian Methods for Structural Dynamics and Civil Engineering published by John Wiley & Sons. He is/was Member of the ASCE Probabilistic Methods Committee, the Subcommittee on Computational Stochastic Mechanics, the Subcommittee on System Identification and Structural Control of the International Association for Structural Safety and Reliability (IASSAR), the Committee of Financial Analysis and Computation, and Chinese Association of New Cross Technology in Mathematics, Mechanics, and Physics. His research interests include system identification, structural health monitoring, modal/model identification, reliability analysis of engineering systems, structural control, model selection, air quality prediction, and probabilistic methods. He was keynote speaker of over 10 international/regional/national conferences/symposia. He has published over 100 research papers and reports in international conferences and journals including ASCE Journal of Engineering Mechanics, ASME Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control, ASME Journal of Applied Mechanics, AIAA Journal, Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics, and Probabilistic Engineering Mechanics and Structural Safety.
