Biography

Dr. Recep Efe is currently working as Professor of Geography at Balikesir University, Turkey. He completed his Ph.D. at Istanbul University in Turkey with postdoctoral studies in U.K. He began teaching as Assistant professor at Department of Geography at Marmara University in Istanbul in 1994. He was the head of Geography department at Fatih University, Istanbul between 1996 and 2001. He founded the first GIS laboratory in Turkey and developed GIS courses programs. He has published more than 100 papers in reputed journals. Dr. Efe authored and co-authored/edited 42 books. He has presented some 50 papers at international conferences. He organized and chaired national and international conferences and acted as a member of scientific boards. Dr. Efe is member of International Geographical Union (IGU), Association of American Geographers (AAG), International Associations of Geomorphologists (IAG), International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS-6648), Balkan Geographical Association, Turkish Geographical Association. He works in the fields of ecology, ecosystem analysis, geomorphology, vegetation, biogeography, land degradation, land use and ecotourism.
