Biography

Prof. Suleyman Akmam graduated from Hacettepe University, Department of Chemical Engineering Ankara, Turkey with M.Sc. degree. He took his Ph. D. Degree from same University on Atomization Mechanisms in Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (GFAAS) in 1981. He was appointed Associate Professor and Professor at Gazi University, Department of Chemistry and Istanbul Technical University, Department of Chemistry in 1985 and 1991, respectively. He was selected to Head of Analytical Chemistry section for 4 years and Head of Department of Chemistry for 6 years. He was the member of the administrative committee. He worked as a Consultant at Chemistry section of Forensic Council of Turkey. He worked at Perkin-Elmer Research Laboratories, Uberlingen, Germany for one year as Alexander von Humboldt Foundation fellow. His main research of subjects is Analytical Chemistry, Atomic Spectrometry, Atomic Absorption Spectrometry, Food Chemistry, and Environmental Chemistry. Prof. Akman has more than 100 scientific papers in respect full international journals. He was one of the members of Editorial Advisory Board of Spectrochimica Acta Part B between 1989 and 1995. Prof Akman has conducted international and national projects on Air and Sea-Water Pollution. He has supervised 15 PhD theses. Prof Akman gave invited lectures in famous international congress, chaired sessions and organized an international symposium and was member of advisory board of many international and national congresses, symposiums. He is the co-author of the chapters in 4 international books published by Elsevier, RSC etc. At the moment he is full Professor at Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Chemistry, Turkey.
