Dr. Kumar is a research track academician and senior lecturer in the School of Pharmacy, Taylor’s University. Dr. Kumar was awarded his doctorate in pharmacology in 2008, with specialization in endocrine pharmacology, from the Department of Pharmaceutical technology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He obtained his undergraduates (BPharm, 1999) and postgraduates (MPharm, 2003) from Dr. MGR Medical University Chennai, India. Dr.Kumar has been the recipient of prestigious National Doctoral Fellowship (NDF) from AICTE, Government of India. Now Dr. Kumar has been directed his on animal and non-animal models of metabolic syndrome as well as natural products. Dr.Kumar’s research mainly focuses on the investigation of cellular and molecular mechanisms of high fructose corn syrup induced metabolic abnormalities and development of potent molecules for the treatment of metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. Kumar has almost 11 years of research experience in the field of endocrine (Diabetic) pharmacology and has worked in collaboration with academic scientists and herbal industry collaborators. Dr. Kumar has approximately 50 peer-reviewed publications including review articles on metabolic disorders, obesity and diabetes mellitus and contributed to one book chapter with an overall H-index of 10. He serves on the editorial board member of numerous medical and pharmacological journals and has reviewed more than 50 peer-reviewed articles. His current research on metabolic syndrome has been supported by Ministry of Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Government of Malaysia. Dr. Kumar is also actively involved in teaching various pharmacological modules and courses on central and peripheral nervous system to graduate and undergraduate students. He has also supervised and mentored several undergraduates and postgraduates in various pharmacological research activities. Dr. Kumar has served as a chief and co-investigator on a number of research projects funded by university and government of Malaysia. In 2008-2010, Dr.Kumar has served the University College (The Erode College of Pharmacy) in an administrative capacity as Head of the Animal House and Secretary of the Institutional Animal Ethical Committee (IAEC), is responsible for ensuring the humane care and use of research animals and for ascertaining that researchers at University College adhere to all (Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals) CPCSEA, New Delhi, India, regulations and policies, in part, enable the University College to approve postgraduate associated animal research.
