Dr. Samir Kumar Biswas was born on 17th January, 1972 at Nadia district of West Bengal, working as an Associate Professor, Department of Plant Pathology, C.S. Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He obtained his B. Sc. (Ag.) degree from BCKV, West Bengal in 1994, M. Sc. (Plant Pathology) in 1997 and Ph.D. (Plant Pathology) in 2001 both from I.A.R.I, New Delhi. He was received merit scholarship in secondary education, JRF (IARI) in M.Sc and SRF (ICAR) in Ph. D. programme. Dr. Biswas is teaching fundamental course of Plant Pathology to under graduate student, basic and advanced course of Plant Pathology to post graduate student. He has published more than 72 research papers in National & International Journal, 02 books (Sustainable disease management of Agricultural Crops & Organic farming and management of biotic stresses), 15 book chapters and 10 articles. He has also guided both M.Sc.(Ag) & Ph. D. students majoring in Plant Pathology and Plant Biotechnology. He has attended several national and international symposia and presented his research paper. He was received the Young Scientist Award-2003 by UPCAR, Lucknow & M. K. Patel Memorial Young Scientist Award by Indian Phytopathological Society, New Delhi in 2011, Excellence in Teaching Award by Astha Foundation and also received Best Poster Award. Dr. Biswas is also associated with various scientific community and organized zonal symposium at Kanpur. He is also a very good sports man and is having 59 certificates from different game & sports. Dr. Biswas is also working as Hostel Warden, Athletes councilor as an additional duty in the University. He also visited the Ohio State University, Columbus, USA under Indo-US Agriculture Knowledge Initiatives work-plan entitled “Teaching and Learning Excellence: A Capacity Building Model”.
