Biography

Dr.K.Ravi, Professor, VIT University, Vellore, has 25 years of teaching and research including administrative experience and 3 years of industrial experience. He did his Bachelor Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Government College of Engineering, Salem in 1993 at University of Madras. Chennai and completed his Master Degree in Power system Engineering at Annamalai University, Chidambaram in 2001. His Doctoral work was done in the field of Applications of recent computational intelligence technique for solving optimal power flow considering FACTS devices at Anna University, Chennai. Dr. K. Ravi is a member of IEEE, IAENG and ISTE. His areas of interests are power system operation and control, reactive power control, Renewable energy sources, Applications of recent computational intelligence technique for solving power system problems. He has handled more than 15 subjects such as power system operation and control, power system engineering, power system analysis, Electrical AC/ DC machines, Renewable energy sources, Electrical circuit theory, power quality etc. He has published more than 83 research papers in national and international journals and conferences including one patent publication. He has guided more than 150 UG and PG Projects, produced 6 PhD, Guiding 6 PhD Scholars and organized more than 36 Seminars, Workshops, and Symposium FDPs etc. for the benefit of staff and students. He is a reviewer for Elsevier –international journal of electric power and energy systems (IJEPES) and African journal of Engineering research (AJER), Journal of Engineering Science and Technology (JESTEC)-Elsevier, International Journal of Renewable Energy Research (IJRER), and American Journal of Applied Sciences. He has visited and presented paper in various countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, China shanghai, Thailand. He has personally attended, presented papers and chaired some of the technical sessions in more than 20 conferences. He has delivered more than 30 plus guest lectures on related to power system smart grid technologies topics in various Engineering colleges. He has acted as a Subject Expert Member for PhD oral Viva Examiner in Anna University, Chennai, Chief Superintendent of examiner, Anna University squad member. He has been working, as a question paper setter, Thesis examiner, and Research advisory board member, Professional body member, Technical advisor for various International and national conferences and expert member of selection committees of several universities in India since 2006. Dr. K. Ravi has been awarded India’s prestigious Senior Scientist International Travel Support Grant by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, New Delhi. He has received FUNDING of Financial assistance for organizing a workshop from DST-SERB, New Delhi. He has completed 4 consultancy industry projects and currently he has been doing consultancy Project for various industries.
