Biography

Dr. Paramita Bhattacherjee, [Ph.D. from ICT, Mumbai, Post-Doc from North Dakota State University, USA] is currently Reader in the Department of Food Technology and Biochemical Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata since September 2009. She has previously taught in the Department of Food and Fermentation Technology at Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, India for a year and in Techno India (under WBUT) for 1.5 years and has industrial experience of two years as Executive Scientist in Biocon Ltd, Bangalore, India. Her current research interests are green technologies of extraction of ayurceuticals, development of nutraceuticals in combating metabolic disorders, edible oils and frying applications and electronic nose applications for quality assessment of food and agro-commodities and food engineering. She has 8 Ph.D. students registered with her, four have received Ph.D. degrees under her supervision and several have and are pursuing M.Tech. programs with her. She has completed 4 funded research projects and has 3 ongoing projects. She has 55 research papers in national and international journals, 8 full length papers in conference proceedings, 21 oral presentations in conferences including 3 in international forums, 10 book chapters and has applied for two Indian patents. She has been the recipient of several awards from Jadavpur University (Gold medals for her degrees), ICT (Mumbai) (best Ph.D. thesis award in 2003) and in conferences, including the Best paper award in Food Science in 2011 from Association of Food Scientists and Technologists (India).
