Biography

Dr. Bhola R. Gurjar is currently working as Professor in Civil Engineering Department of Indias Premier Technological Institution; Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Roorkee. He is also a core faculty member at Centre for Transportation Systems (CTRANS) in IIT Roorkee. He obtained his Ph.D. in Environmental Science from same Institute. He is having 24 years progressive professional experience in industry, teaching, training, research, and consultancy. His present research interests focuses on Air/ Water Pollution; Emissions and Air Quality in Megacities; Urban transport and the Environment; GHG emissions and Climate Change; Health Risk Assessment; EIA and risk analysis; Waste Management; Energy and Environmental Policy evaluation; and Integrated cross-disciplinary studies of The Environment, Economy, Technology, and Infrastructure Developments - particularly with the Global change, Sustainable Development and risk Governance Perspectives. He is co-author/ co-editor of 8 books. He is recipient of several awards and fellowships including the prestigious Advanced Postdoctoral Research Fellowship of the Max Planck Society (Germany). Research and Training (START), Washington, D.C., U.S.A., honored him with the 2004 START Young Scientist Award. He is presently heading the Max Planck Partner Group for Megacities and Global Change established at IIT Roorkee by the Max Planck Society (Germany). He successfully completed number of major R & D Projects and Consulting Assignments as Principal Investigator and Co-investigator. He supervised 10 PhD thesis, 24 M.Tech Dissertation, 15 M.Tech seminars, and 9 B.Tech projects. He has published 52 research articles in peer reviewed journal, 21 book chapters, and 24 papers in peer reviewed conference proceeding contributed as author/co-author. He is also member of many program committees. He is also serving as member of editorial board and reviewer for various journals.
