Dr. C. S. Purushothaman is currently working as Principal Scientist of Fishery Environment Management Division in Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi, India. He completed his PhD in Aquatic Biology & Fisheries from University of Kerala in 1994 with research work entitled as “Studies on Phosphate Solubilising and Phosphates Producing Bacteria in Veli Lake”. He has received ICAR Award for Team Research 1997-1998 for developing the Aquaculture Sewage Treatment Plant. He has also been worked as a Visiting Scientist at Stroud Water Research Center (Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia), Avondale (USA). He is also the Approved Research Guide for Ph. D. students in Life Sciences. He has been served as Adjudicator/External Examiner/Editor-in-Chief/Subject Expert/Member-Secretary/Advisor for selection in the Union Public Service Commission, nominee of the directors of CIFE and CMFRI, Director in Centre of Advanced Studies in Fisheries in Fisheries, Expert Member in different categories and Referee for many national and international journals. He has published 01 review article, 61 research papers in national and international journals, 02 books and chapters in books are 07. Presently he is engaged in some research projects while some projects are completed. He has supervised 3 MSc, 3 M Phil and 08 PhD students. He has also guided as Chairman, Advisory committee for 10 PhD, 17 MSc/M.F.Sc and 03 M Phil dissertation.
