Dr. Abdul Rauf Shakoori holds a position of Professor & Director School of Biological Sciences University of the Punjab Lahore, Pakistan, Professor of Cell Biology, University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, MA, USA, Visiting Professor at Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan and Visiting Professor at King Saud University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has completed his Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from Universitaet Hohenheim, Germany and Post Doctoral Fellow from University of Massachusetts, Medical Center, Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. Previously he was appointed as Lecturer in Zoology at Government Degree College, Jhelum, Pakistan, Lecturer, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor in Zoology at University of the Punjab, Consultant at Midwest Universities Consortium for International Activities (MUCIA) Inc. Pakistan Institutional Excellence Project (IEP), Islamabad. He is president of Zoological Society of Pakistan and Bioinformatics Society of Pakistan. He is also serving as editor for Pakistan Journal of Zoology, the Zoological Society of Pakistan, and member of editorial committee of Proceedings of the Pakistan Congress of Zoology Published by the Zoological Society of Pakistan. He also participated in number of research projects. He also delivered several invited talks. Prof. Shakoori has a distinguished scientific career, which has previously been recognized by the Presidential Award of Aizaz-i-Kamal and a Civil Award Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. Prof. Shakoori is Fellow of prestigious Pakistan Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS). He has published more than 575 original research articles, 19 technical reports, 639 abstracts, 10 popular articles, and 23 books contributed as author/co-author. He also produced 61 PhDs. His main area of research interest focuses on Molecular Biology/Cell Biology (Gene Expression), Biochemical Toxicology (Pesticide Biochemistry & Physiology), Aquatic Toxicology, Environmental Biotechnology.
