Biography

Experienced Professor of plant ecology and climate change, worked in different national and international organisations around the world including Pakistan, Australia, UAE, China and Malaysia. Presently working as a Chairman, Department of Botany, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, Pakistan. Also working as Director, Botanical Garden, AWKUM for the last seven years. Before the present job, worked at the University of Agriculture Peshawar for 16 years in the Department of Weed Science and Botany as well as a coordinator of Botany for five years. Have earned a Ph.D. from the University of Queensland, Australia. Also completed three postdoctorates, one from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China and the second one from UAE University Al Ain, UAE and the third one from the INTI International University Malaysia. Published than 100 peer-review research articles (with a total Impact Factor = 721.4) and conference abstracts in different national and international journals including recently four articles in the Lancet (IF-168.9), organized different national and international conferences, symposia and workshops around the world including Japan, England, Sri Lanka, UAE, Australia, China, New Zealand and Pakistan. An active member of different national and international scientific societies. More recently, has been elected as a President of the Pakistan Ecological Society (PES). Has supervised more than 50 Master, M. Phil and Ph.D. research students in the University of Queensland, Australia, The University of Agriculture Peshawar and Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan. Also completed research projects on weed seed spread, medicinal plants and phylogenomics in collaboration with UQ, UAE, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Recently Prof. Dr. Ikramullah Khan has been recommended by the Search Committee as a Vice Chancellor for a public sector university in KP, Pakistan.
