Biography

Prof. Dr. Aburjai, Dean of Faculty of Pharmacy, the University of Jordan since 2010. He received his B.S. Degree in Pharmacy from University of Damascus College of Pharmacy (1989), Masters and Ph.D. (1997) from the University of Milan, Italy, and he completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Drug Delivery and Pharmaceutical Technology at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy.

As a dean of the faculty of pharmacy, The University of Jordan, he united and inspired a high-performance team of faculty, staff, preceptors, and students toward achievement of the mission and goals of the faculty. Dr. Aburjai participated strongly in the development, implementation, evaluation, and enhancement of the educational, research, service, and pharmacy practice programs. He also has a major role in the establishment and implementation of standards for academic performance and progression. His ability to apply for grants, either from local or international sectors is very strong. More than one million USD were generated for the faculty in the period 2011-2013. He builds very strong relationship with local, regional or international pharmaceutical sectors including educational institutions.

Through his membership in both governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as regional and international institutions, he has extensively contributed to the advancement of pharmacy education, Pharm D education and pharmaceutical industries development. Dr. Aburjai is qualified to provide leadership in pharmacy professional education and practice, including teaching, research, scholarly activities, and service.

Dr. Aburjai is a member of many governmental and non-governmental organizations, board of trustees- Philadilphia University, board of trustees-Center of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Preparations, board of trustees-Jordan University Hospital, Supreme Committee of Food and Drug-JFDA, Executive committee MeTA (Medicine Transparency Alliance)-JFDA, MoH, WHO, Chairman of the Strategic Committee (Faculty of Pharmacy, 2013-2018), Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Society of Faculties of Pharmacy in the Arab World, Chairperson of Herbal and Natural Products Committee- JFDA, Founder and Principle of the Jordanian Society of Palliative Therapy, Chair of Pharmacy Sector, Jordan Society of Scientific Research (JSSR), Chair of Pharmacy Section, Higher Education and Accreditation Commission, Chairperson of the Arab Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

His research is focused on the development of novel drug based on natural resources, ethnopharmacological studies and plant biotechnology. Dr. Aburjai is experienced in developing innovative formulation technologies for the delivery of natural based drugs in several areas including intranasal, oral, sublingual, buccal, ophthalmic and parenteral drug delivery. He has ample experience in improving several drug products through design and development as well as experience in FDA guidelines. Moreover, he has excellent experience in establishment and designating of pharmaceutical industries and train staff to get GMP.

Dr. Aburjai is an author of over 75 research articles, symposium abstracts, and patent applications and currently serves at the Editorial Advisory Board for many peer-reviewed pharmaceutical journals.
