Biography

Professor Khaled M. Khleifat Gained his B.Sc. in Microbiology from Sallah Addin University, Irbil, Iraq, in 1988 and his MSc. in Biology from Ankara University in 1993. His PhD was in 1999 from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) Chicago, USA. After his PhD receiving, he has been appointed as an assistant professor at Mutah University in 1999. He has promoted to associate professor and full professor in august 7th 2004 and August 7th 2008, respectively. Prof. Khleifat was appointed several times in different academic positions lastly as the Vice Presedent for administrative and finential affairs since september, 2014 in Tafila Technical University, Jordan.
Generally, Khleifat is experienced in teaching Bio101 and 102, advanced microbial physiology, Microbial genetics, Molecular biology, environmental microbiology, cell biology, biochemistry and their labs.
Khleifat attended several national and international conferences and published more than 40 international peer reviewed articles. Khleifat’s research mostly focused on the environmental and medical microbiology and biotechnological areas: 1. isolation and identification of bacteria in different locations in south of Jordan., 2. Heavy metals uptake in bacteria, 3. bacterial hemoglobin biotechnology (effect on heavy metal bioaccumulation, enzyme productivity, response to antioxidants in bacteria). 4. bacterial composition of wastewater 5. Enzyme purification and kinetics. He had supervised more than 30 master students and 2 PhD students in the period between 2003-2015. He is a reviewer for several international peer-reviewd journals: Enzyme and Microbial Technology, Journal of Hazordous Materials, Current Microbiology, Biochemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Chemical Engineering, Mutah Lil-Buhuth Waddirasaat, Mutah University, Jordan, Journal of Basic Microbiology.
Dr. Khleifat-Khaled has received two major awards after receiving his PhD: (1) a one-year seniority for propmotion purpose due to his research achievements in his major, Microbiology and (2) Awarded Abdul-Hameed Shoman Prize for Young Arab Researchers for the Year 2009
