Dr. Essam Fadel Alwan Al-Jumaily is currently working as Professor and Assistant Dean of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute for Postgraduate Studies, Baghdad University, Iraq. He has completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Southampton University, U.K. His scientific career spans a period of 30 years during which he worked in academic teaching, supervision, scientific administration and consultancies. In 1999, he founded the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (IGEB) for graduate studies in the University of Baghdad. He was received scientific achievement awards in Annual Science Day of Higher Education, and received 50 official acknowledgments and /or rewards from scientific Institutions and commissions. He successfully supervised 25 PhD students, 45 MSc students, and 6 graduates Diploma. His main area of interest focuses on Microbial Biotechnology, Enzyme Biotechnology, Biosafety and Biotechnology, and Purification of Biotechnology materials with downstream production. He has published 3 books and more than 160 scientific research papers in journals contributed as author/co-author. He is member of Syndicate of Agriculture Engineers, Syndicate of Iraqi Chemististe, Biochemical Society Transactions, and The Biochemical Society.
