Bishnu Prasad Bhattarai is a conservation Biologist and a lecturer of Zoology at Tribhuvan University. He received a PhD at the University of South Bohemia, Czech Republic in 2012. He was a Research Fellow and Academician at the Global Change Research Center of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He authored several scientific research papers on various issues of biodiversity conservation of Nepal Himalaya in prestigious journals and books. Dr. Bhattarai contributed several chapters to various books about biodiversity conservation (e.g., Himalayan Biodiversity in the Changing World, Springer 2012). He authored a book “Conservation Biology: A primer for Nepal” especially for graduate students and conservation biologists. His research interests include the conservation of large carnivores, their habitats and prey, biogeography of Himalayan flora and fauna (e.g. birds, mammals, butterflies and orchids), conservation education and the impact of climate change on species of various altitudinal gradients in the Central Himalaya.
