Hassan Salehi, Ph.D. is a full professor at Shiraz University, School of Agriculture. He possesses near to 15 years of progressive experience in the horticultural science field. Furthermore, he has two times experience on plant (turfgrass) genetic transformation in international labs; 1 year in Prof. M. Sticklen’s lab (at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI) and 9 months in Prof. Ed. Blumwald’s lab (at University of California, Davis, CA). Dr. Salehi has over 190 scientific papers and projects either presented or published. He is an internationally recognized expert in many areas of advanced horticulture including turfgrass and ornamental plants culture, physiology and biotechnology.
Dr. Salehi is the Chief Editor of Flower and Ornamental Plants, the Chief Editor and founder of Scientific Journal of Landscape Studies (a new journal), Editor of Molecular Biotechnology (USA), Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection (UK), and International Journal of Horticultural Science and Technology (IRAN). Dr. Salehi taught courses in the area of physiology and biotechnology of ornamental plants specially turfgrasses. Dr. Salehi is reviewer for refereed journals including: J. Am. Soc. Hort. Sci., HortScience, Sci. Hortic., Int. J. Hortic. Sci. Technol., Mol. Biotechnol., and Acta Physiol. Plant. Dr. Salehi holds a BS in Horticultural Sciences from Ahwaz University and a MS and Ph.D. in Horticultural Sciences from Shiraz University/Michigan State University. As a faculty member, his responsibilities included research and teaching in the area of plant physiology and plant biotechnology (genomics and phenomics) mainly with the aim of tolerance to abiotic/biotic stresses.
He is also expert in horticultural plants management especially turfgrass management involved teaching undergraduates or working with the industry. He is extremely knowledgeable in turfgrass management. His research and consulting have made a big impact on the management of some soccer stadium or business sector or landscapes. He is working directly with turfgrass managers. His interest is working on some specific horticultural crops but, his resume shows that he has good experience in many horticultural crops’ physiology, genomics, phenomics and molecular biology. Furthermore, his experiments are conducted as both field/ greenhouse and lab trials. Therefore, has the basic knowledge and experience of agricultural plant physiology systems.
His aim is to keep doing applied research so that people can benefit from their results. However, basic researches are needed as the prerequisite for applied researches. For this purpose, most of his investigations are conducted applicable but are basic, too.
