Biography

Dr. Chengri Ding is currently working as Professor in Urban Studies and Planning, University of Maryland. He earned his Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1996 in Urban and Regional Planning. As the founding Director of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policys China Program formally established in 2003, Dr. Ding managed, directed and led the China Program 2001-2008 and orchestrated collaborations with China authorities such as Ministry of Finance, State Administration of Taxation, Development Research Center of the State Council, Ministry of Land and Resources, Ministry of Communication, and numerous universities and research institutes. Dr. Ding has organized and chaired several international conferences/workshops and given many invited/plenary presentations. He has been Principal Investigator for many international policy projects on China, ranging urban master plan, farmland protection, property taxation reform and local public financing. Dr. Ding has given 50+ invited or keynote speeches/ presentations. He has been consulting to the World Bank, Global Business Network, FAO, and many leading Chinese agencies such as NDRC. He serves advisory board for the International Institute of Property Taxation. Dr. Ding is the founding director for the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy’s China Program. He is member of American Real Estate Society, Regional Science Association International, Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning, and Institute of Rating, Revenue and Evaluation. He has published more than 89 research articles in referred journals, 11 books, 8 book chapters, 30 proceeding and reports contributed as author/co-author. His numerous articles published in Chinese has drawn attention from top officials. He is member of editorial board in Land Use Policy, Journal Open Access: Environmental Sciences, Planners and co-editor for Journal of Urban Management. He is also serving as reviewer for 20 leading journals, and reviewer for National and International Organizations.
