Biography

Dr. Yasser Mohamed Nour El-Din Shabana is currently working as Professor of Plant Pathology and Vice-Dean for Graduate Studies, Research, and Cultural Affairs, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University, Egypt. He has completed his Postdoctoral Fellow in Plant Pathology from University of Florida, Florida, USA. He also served as Visiting Research Scholar at University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA, Visiting Professor at the Plant Protection Research Institute (PPRI), Stellenbosch, South Africa, Visiting Professor at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen, Denmark, and Botany & Plant Pathology Department Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, USA. He is member of scientific societies and committees such as American Phytopathological Society (APS), Panel member in the APS International Relations Committee, Former committee member in the APS Biological Control Committee, Arab Society for Plant Protection, Florida Weed Science Society, American Association for Advancement of Sciences, International Organization for Biological Control, Agricultural Sciences Society, Mansoura University, Egypt, Honorary membership in the Caribbean Food Crops Society and many others. Dr. Shabanas research is focused on solving real agricultural problems particularly in the tropical and Subtropical Regions. A major part of his research has been concentrating on Biological Control of Weeds, Parasitic Plants, and Plant Diseases of Global Importance. He also completed 18 research projects as principal investigator, research fellow and coordinator. He also participated in more than 50 international scientific meetings and many of national meetings. He is also serving as associate editor for International Journal of Plant Pathology, Research Journal of Agricultural Research, and Journal of Environmental Science and Technology and peer reviewer for international journals. He has supervised 16 graduate students. He has published 3 books, 2 patents, and 49 research articles in journals contributed as author/co-author. Dr. Yasser received honors includes Mansoura University Award for Scientific Innovation, Mansoura University Award for Academic Excellence, Shabana’s et al. paper published in “Biological Control” (Vol. 54: 159-165) was ranked in the Top 10 Most Downloaded Articles within this journal, Biographical record in Marquis Who’s Who in America, and Distinguished Scholar Award of the Arab Fund Fellowships Program and Shoman Prize for the Young Arab Scientists.
